The PTSA is proud to offer $1000 scholarships for the following categories:- 2024 PTSA Academic Scholarship (2-3)* The Academic Scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated excellent academic achievement throughout high school. 2024 PTSA Activities and Service Scholarship (2-3)* The Activities and Service Scholarship is awarded to a student who has participated in and/or demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities at school or through a community organization. 2024 Arts Scholarship (1) The Arts Scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated excellence in a performing or visual arts throughout high school. 2024 First Generation Scholarship (1) The First Generation Scholarship is awarded to a student who is of the first generation of his/her immediate family to attend college. (Students are eligible ONLY if neither parent graduated from college). 2024 Community College Scholarship (1) The Community College Scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to attend an accredited community college, junior college or technical school. *Two scholarships will be awarded for the Academic and Activities and Services categories, and depending on the number of applications received an additional scholarship will be awarded to one of those two categories. In order to apply, students and a parents/guardian MUST be PTSA members by April 19, 2024. Don't forget to re-link your Harris Teeter VIC Card! Just click on the link, sign in, go to the My Account section, and scroll down to Together in Education. Use our code 4707 or search or Wakefield High School (note: there are three Wakefield schools so make sure you are selecting the high school). Virtual learning has been a challenging experience, and WCPSS has some resources which may be of benefit to you. Technology Support For Staff - Go to the WakeID Portal. Click on the Help Desk icon to submit a ticket. - Call the Help Desk at 919-664-5700. For Students - Go to the Guides for Technology site. Look for the Contact the Help Desk box. - Click on the link for the online support form or call the Help Desk at 919-694-8100. Lost/Stolen - If a student or staff member loses their device or has it stolen from them, submit a Help Desk ticket (refer above) as soon as possible. Mental Health Supports Parent-Initiated Calls - Alliance Access Staff - 1-800-510-9132 (parents only) - students may be covered by private insurance, Medicaid, or they may be uninsured. School-based Referrals - Alliance Bridge to Success Program - school teams refer to Alliance with parental consent. Community-based Supports - WCPSS has agreements with community agencies that can provide preventative and supportive counseling support which do not rise to the level of mental health support needed for an Alliance referral. CRM & RP - CRM & RP supports for each school to address building relationships and address trauma-informed are being developed. MEET YOUR PTSA 2023-24 CREW

Malik Bazzell has been a professional educator for 25 years and a product of Wake County Public Schools. He graduated from East Wake High School and attended Fayetteville State University where he attained a BS degree in Social Studies Education. Mr. Bazzell taught Social Studies in Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, NC and Fuquay Varina High School in Fuquay Varina, NC from 1998-2003. In 2003, Mr. Bazzell graduated from NC State University with a Master’s degree in School Administration and started his career as a school administrator at Sanderson High School where he was an assistant principal for 6 years. In 2009, he moved to Washington, DC to become principal of Anacostia High School and returned to Wake County in 2010 to be principal of his alma mater, East Wake High School of Integrated Technology. While principal at East Wake High School of Integrated Technology, Mr. Bazzell increased student college and career readiness and worked closely with staff members to raise East Wake High School of Integrated Technology’s graduation rate from 69% to 86%. In 2015 Mr. Bazzell was named principal of Wakefield High School. YOU'RE INVITED!

Each year PTSA recognizes students who have achieved a GPA of 3.75 or greater. They are provided with a "grab & go" breakfast, letter (for sophomores) and certificate. Please see and congratulate this year's LAMP OF KNOWLEDGE RECIPIENTS!
